Question: Why is my check engine light on in my vehicle?

The check engine light can be on for many reasons and is there to let you know something is not functioning properly. This can mean different things, from a loose gas cap to your engine is misfiring. When it is safe to do so, pull over and check for obvious things like a loose gas cap or if you are low on motor oil.  If your light is still on, you need to get it checked out by a professional who can plug in a diagnostic tool and quickly determine the issue.
